Reading some of your older posts I am very surprised that you do not identify Cricket St Thomas as the model for Kellynch. It seems very obvious to me. It is in a more suitable position it is more appropriate in size and has a clear and well established Navy connection. Indeed the builder was a famously childless Admiral. The Hood of HMS Hood fame I believe. It had an attached village at the time. The main gate leaves the estate on the road to Crewkern.
ReplyDeleteBTW you may also be interested in my contention that Pride and Prejudice was based around the (at the time) small market town of Hemel Hempstead in West Hertfordshire. In an area of the town known today as Bennets End
