The UK 'political earthquake' in Kent

European election 2014 - voting results - West Kent area

The voting results for our area of Kent are astonishing and not just for the numbers of UKIP votes, but also for the strong 'reform the EU' vote (UKIP + Conservatives). The Greens winning more votes than the Liberal Democrats (currently in power in Coalition and pushing green issues) in an area not at all strong on green issues is also noticeable:

Sevenoaks
UK Independence Party (UKIP) - 11,873 votes
Conservatives                 - 11,072 votes
Labour                              - 3,349 votes
Lib Dems                          - 1,993 votes

Tunbridge Wells

UKIP                                 - 9567 votes
Labour                               - 3,440 votes
Lib Dem                             - 2,774 votes
