Seasonal food saves money

"Start" is a hands-on website supported and motivated by Prince Charles.   It is worth looking at the whole site in detail as it is lifestyle oriented.  Its "seasonal food guide" is very useful for those of us who have never completely mastered fruit and veg.  It saves a lot of money if you buy in season.

  1. I totally agree. The trick is to sow at the right season for winter foodstuff. So we are doing parsnips, leeks, curly dwarf kale (as long as it is netted against pigeons), winter squashes and I am having a first go at celeriac. Also hoping to grow Little Gem winter lettuce in our 'cool' greenhouse. I feel very strongly that we must do this preparatory sowing now.
